Someone was bound to finally develop this…

… A speed camera alert for GPS.

A local man, Joseph Scott, developed a program to work with his GPS. There’s a lot of debate going on about the usefulness and reliability of this program. A Software Salesman, that uses this program, says it helps to refocus him when he might be getting distracted on the road doing his sales calls. Sounds like he does a lot while driving such as; phone calls, emails and sipping coffee to name a few.

Some law enforcement are all for the program to slow drivers down and not always where there are speed cameras since it’s the subscribers that send in the locations and not from a reliable database that tracks these locations. In Virginia, where there are no speed cameras, drivers are alerted to police that are set up with radar guns.  This sounds like it could be a crap shoot if the data isn’t up-to-date but it would get more drivers to slow down even if there are no radar encampments.

I have to agree that a big con of the program is, “an option that warns drivers of places where police operate checkpoints to find drunk drivers. On PhantomAlert’s Web site, the DUI checkpoint locations are marked with a tiny martini-glass icon.” I’m all for the newest thing in fuzz busters but not to protect the drunk drivers.

The big change

I’m talking changing your mobile number.

I swear changing your cell phone number is harder than moving your residence.

I have finally succumbed and accepted a work blackberry.  I’ve been carrying two phones for a few weeks and it is driving me crazy. I’m scaling down and getting rid of Mini Red’s phone and passing her my old phone. This will save me boocoo bucks.

The downside is I won’t have a camera with me at all!  I guess that will be a downside for my loyal readers too.I’ve been going through numbers and I find it all very interesting.  There are numbers that are easily deleted and there are numbers I want to keep but no real reason to notify those people of the change.  Trying to let people know is the most difficult part.  At least my old number will be with Mini Red and she can forward people to me.

I guess this all makes me sound very popular huh?  Really… I’m not.  Haha

There really should be a service that notifies people of the change the way the Postal Service does.

I WANT! I WANT! I WANT!

In March I got the Pearl and realized a little too late that I just don’t like it.  Everything about it is just too small and I can’t see anything on there.  Not on the key pad and not on the screen. Don’t get me started on how much I pay for the internet on this thing and I couldn’t even check my flights when I was travelling.

Verizon has always been good to me especially after Nextel (now Sprint) where every call was dropped.  The service area for Verizon is good too and I can be on the phone when on the Metro.

BUT

I’m rarely on the Metro and AT&T has definitely stepped up their game.  Plus the prices are better and I love the rollover minutes.

So I talked to Verizon today and got the skinny on my current situation with them.  Looks like I’ve figured out how to get what I want, but not until about mid September.  I then sat down with Minnie Red and we have put some deals into place.  Seems she wants and iPhone too but she is gonna have to work and save her money.  I have also given her some incentives and ways to get more outta me on this deal.  We will see how it goes.  I’m anxious to she how hard Minnie Red works to get what she wants.  That’s almost better than me getting my iPhone.

I don’t seem to usually get what I want but if I’m patient then I guess it will all work out… I hope.
