So glad this week is over

It has been quite a week! There has been a lot of work to bring this week to fruition.

First: Mini Red got Confirmed!  She chose the name Joan as in Joan of Arc because Joan represents a very strong woman. Mini Red had to do research on Joan of Arc, write a report about her and another paper on why she chose that saint.  We had other paper work to do to including details of her sponsor and Mini Red chose Uncle Brotha-Man. Lastly, she had to do 10 service hours and went way above that.  She did a few hours working in the religious education office, she volunteered herself for eight hours to be a Mother’s helper for a Mom with three kids. On top of that she volunteered to clean up the Potomac Watershed on Saturday morning. The clean up sounded like fun so I volunteered too!  We met some great people and had a lot of fun getting grimy to do some good for the watershed.  It is truly unbelievable the things people throw into the creek, e.g. grill, car grille, bike, knife. We will definitely be doing more of this type cleanup.

The Confirmation Mass was Thursday night and Mini Red was even chosen to read one of the petitions.  I am so proud of Mini Red and I’m proud of myself for that evening and having to deal with FN who was in fine form. During the signs of peace he decided to hand me child support rather than shake my hand. Such a jerk!

Second: Mini Red played her violin at Music in the Parks, in Williamsburg, with her school Orchestra. I must mention that just a month ago they got a perfect score at  the County and State Festivals.  This was the first time her school’s Orchestra made it to State Festival. So this week they went to Williamsburg for Music in the Parks and won Overall and First, yet again. I’m so proud.

Third: While Mini Red was in Williamsburg I headed to the beach for a Bachlorette weekend for Sis. Eighteen of us stayed in this big beautiful house on the beach in Fenwick Island.  For two nights I fell asleep and woke to the sounds of the ocean waves.  Saturday brought a nice run up Coastal Highway into Bethany and we got back just in time for games on the beach. The drinking got started early and by the time it was my turn to play cornhole I had quite the buzz going on thanks to the Vanilla Vodka and Diet Coke. Then the games got much more interesting and were even funnier due to the amount of alcohol consumption that was going on. We broke for lunch and I, evidently, had some drunken texting going on and even called a friend (Imelda/my Boss) a Pussy. I must add I had a good reason for calling her a pussy. Shortly after I passed out and woke to them taking pictures of me. The nap did me good and gave me a second wind for the evening. We all got dressed, played pin the penis on the groom until the vans arrived to take us to the Starboard in Dewey.  We had a great time and by the end of the evening there were a ton of great stories that involved fights being provoked, dirty dancing, handstands and flips as well as nakedness and the hot tub. A good time was had by all and many were feeling very rough today. SIL and I had gotten up quite early so when many got up around noon and I went to say my goodbyes I was a bit taken aback when one girl told me to clean up a bit before I left.  Ummmm yeah I had been… All morning while you were sleeping.

It took us six hours to get home possibly due to the crusiers heading home after showing their cars all Cruisin Week in O.C.

My body is hurting from the running, the games, the sunburn and the dancing. So very tired now.

Chaos and Mahem

Well that’s how my life feels lately.

August has been jam packed and it isn’t over yet.  The wedding in Chicago is this weekend and I haven’t even packed yet.  At least I did grab Mrs. M’s and my bridesmaid dresses and mailed them. Gawd I hope nothing goes wrong with that… I paid enough so it shouldn’t.

I finally replaced my running shoes.  I was having shin splints and finally realized the bottom of the shoe was almost worn through.  When I went in the store yesterday I got the distinct feeling the girl wanted to slap me.  I got the lecture on how I could have hurt myself and I have to look at the bottoms of the shoes once in a while.  Not sure when I’ll be getting out there to run again but I should be bouncing down the road with these new shoes.

Minnie Red started 8th grade today.  Jeeze!  I remember when she was in 6th grade and pointing out the 8th graders at the bus stop.  Now she’s one of them.  I took her shopping last night for an outfit for the first day of school.  She choose a mini skirt ensemble and I was happy to see she wore shorts underneath this morning.  I drove her to the bus stop and she promptly shooed me away because she is an 8th grader now and too cool to have Mom hanging around.

With any luck I’ll finish the video I’m making, for the Bride and Groom, tonight.  Then I’ll be able to plans some outfits and pack.  Mrs. M is already packed because she is just that together.

I’ve gotten more photos from the Birthday weekend and… They will not be posted. Ok well… Maybe one:

More has been written about the weekend and can be read here and here including a photo of Wesley Snipes taken at Seacrets.

See you in September.

A Photo Post from the Birthday Weekend

It was Friday, the crew have all arrived and we were ready to begin the evening’s festivities at Fager’s Island. Notice the cups and I’m already drunk and wearing lipstick even.

I’ve decided to help with Nicole’s Bachlorette missions so I climbed on the platform with her to do the pole dancing.  Notice the cup?

I don’t know why I’m making that face and I vaguely remember the flower in my hair.  Oh and that’s Colton… One of the Lacrosse Boys. Notice the cup?

I’m over heated from dancing and trying to use the glow necklace they gave us as a headband.

Saturday afternoon at Seacrets and drinking again.  The drinking was the only thing helping us feel better after the previous evening. Notice the cups?

These people were nice enough to offer us their table so I took a photo op and he decided to show off his tattoo. I gave them a cup.

The cousins arrived and bought me some shots.  We tried to get a family photo but Pink Shorts dude wanted in on the photo.

When he heard it was my 40th Birthday he said, “You need a 21 yr old to just JACK HAMMER you!“  Then he did his impression of a jack hammer.  We took a picture together before one of the cousins ran him off. Ends up Sis knows him but he did not get a cup.

We finally got the family photo.

Mrs. M and I left Seacrets early and missed Wesley Snipes but we had good reason… Crabs!

We pre-ordered the crabs which meant there was a specified time to pick them up.  We also did the set up so everyone could cop a squat and pick the crabs as soon as they got back from Seacrets.  Here I’m doing my best Vanna White impression before dropping the crab down the front of me and covering me in Old Bay.

We cleaned up and headed back to Seacrets.  In the midst of it all we stopped to watch Phelps win yet another Gold Medal.  People were yelling and screaming and it was all so exciting but I’m just getting my hearing back.

Our evening at Seacrets was another fun night except for when I gave them a scare when I disappeared.  I was being lead out of Seacrets to a cooler spot with my dance partner but I refused to leave.  We found a quiet spot and hung out.  I was drunk off my ass but still had my wits about me… somewhat.  I think my goal was to scare him off by biting him but he bit me back. Imelda soon found me and I feared she would kick his ass.  I don’t think he was too happy when I left.  Sorry dude… It was fun while it lasted but at least you got a cup.

I was promptly sent home probably for fear of what I would do next.  It didn’t take me long to get into bed but I was up about an hour later when I noticed there was more than just Sis and I in the bed.  Motz, Shortie and Nicole had climbed in too.  It was cozy but Motz was trying to get Sis to take her earrings out for her.  Poor Motz had the worst hangover the next day.  It seems the pizza at Seacrets did her in.  At least Liz was there to help a Sistah out.

There are still more pictures on the way but not sure what I will be able to post.  There is a lot of imcriminating evidence of yours truly acting the fool.  Oh yes even more than what I have posted here.

To everyone that that came I can’t thank you enough for such an amazing weekend.  I’m beginning to think we should do this every year.

Were you cup worthy?

If you were in OC this weekend and received one of my birthday cups let us know.

We want to know who gave you the cup, where you got it, e.g. Fagers, Macky’s, Seacrets, and any other details you can provide us with.

Oh and if you wanna take it a step further take a pic of you and the cup and email it to me at Reddudette at gmail dot com.

It’s been a memorable weekend… What I can remember of it.

Still trying to piece together last night

Seems yours truly got TRASHED last night.

We started at Macky’s.  Mom said to be sure to let Danny know it’s my birthday weekend and to give him some cups.  I guess I should mention that Sis got 100 cups that say it’s my 40th birthday and they have my url.

Shortie and I shared a Bucket of Orange Crush.  There were Miller Lite Girls offering to buy our second round of Miller Lite.  I gave them each a cup in the end they gave me a cooler and I found 9 whistles in the pocket.  All of us wore them for the rest of the night, which made us very annoying.

After Macky’s we came back and showered and got ready to head out again.  Our last two arrived and we… I mean at least I was already getting my drink on… Cranberry Vodka.

When Sis arrived she expressed her concern for me because the Cranberry Vodka is what I was drinking when I got puking trashed at the DMB concert years before.  Well… Last night I wasn’t puking trashed but slurring trashed.

We headed over to Fager’s and the line was incredible. One of the girls went to the front and told them we had a combination bachelorette and 40th birthday party.  They pulled us all into another area and got all the details.  The bachelorette and I got in for free… The others got discounts and they gave us tasks to complete.  They had it together and I was pleasantly surprised by it all.  We then walked in ahead of everyone.

The stories I’m hearing and the photos I’m seeing are a bit scary.  Tongue contests and the dancing… Oh my the dancing.  I was under the impression that the more I danced the faster this alcohol would wear off and then maybe I could see straight again.

Evidently, I was dancing with someone but I thought I was dancing with everyone out there.  Oh and there was the lacrosse team…  Oye!  I think I should stop there.

Everyone is very concerned about what I’m typing right now.

By the end of the night I was good and the slurring stopped. As we were about to walk back into the condo I noticed them.  I went running and they were all wondering who these young’uns were I was hugging.  It was my cousins!  They were on their way back from Seacrets.  They will be meeting up with all of us back at Seacrets this afternoon.

So we all made it back safe and sound.  It was 3am and the condo was silent as I climbed into bed.  I couldn’t believe that a condo filled with 9 women could be so quiet.  I guess everyone just passed out.

Oh what a night!

*Updated* Looks like I won’t be leaving just yet

Even if the weather was bad I’m not leaving just yet.  I’m sure traffic is gonna be off the hook after that truck drove off the Bay Bridge this morning.

Read about it here or here.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this on the Bay Bridge.

*Big thunderstoms coming in.  People are coming off the beach in droves as it seems the lifeguards are telling people to leave.

It’s noon and word is the east bound portion of the Bay Bridge won’t re-open until this evening due to the on-going investigation.  According to the Bay Bridge website major delays should be anticipated and alternate routes should be considered. The only alternate route I know of is to go up around Baltimore.

I’ve become “THAT” Woman

Yes, it seems I’ve become THAT woman.

A few weeks ago here at the beach Sis and I got in the elevator with two little girls.  They had hit every button in the elevator and it was evident they had been in there a while playing.  When we all got off on the ground floor I couldn’t help myself so I said something.

That elevator has had some issues in the past.  I would becareful if I were you because by hitting all those buttons you could get stuck in there and I don’t think you would like being stuck in the elevator.”

The girls looked at me in horror for even speaking to them and I’m pretty sure they laughed after I walked away but Sis and I laughed too.  Later in the day Sis said to Dad, “Red is the scary lady now.  She said something to these kids who hit all the buttons in the elevator.”

Dad laughed but then said, “They hit ALL the buttons?” and shook his head.

Well, yesterday I was the mean lady again.

The Beach Condo has this cart.  The kind you find at hotels for loading up your stuff and dragging to your room.  The residents all chipped in to purchase this for the residents and guests.  Yesterday as I was coming off the beach I came across one girl on the cart and the other girl pushing it.  I walked by and didn’t say a thing but after washing the sand off I couldn’t help it.

You know… that cart isn’t real sturdy.  I don’t think you want to get hurt plus we need that to last at least a little while longer.”

They nodded in agreement and promptly got off.  Once I got in the elevator I couldn’t help but giggle to myself.  I knew Sis would get a laugh out of me being the mean lady again.

The party’s almost over… Oh Wait! It’s just the calm before the storm.

My vacation is at an end tomorrow.  All week it’s been The Folks, Sis, Minnie Red and I.  Viper arrived Friday night and here it is Saturday morning and suddenly everyone is scurring.

The King is coming! The King is coming!

The final baby proofing is going on… and I’m sitting here writing but I did my part.  So Brotha-Man, SIL and The King are about an hour away.  This brings our count to 8.

But wait there’s more.

My Aunt and Uncle are driving down with their motorcycle group.  They’re gonna break off and meet up with us after lunch.  My Uncle has never met Viper and so when he heard Viper was here he knew he had to stop by. This brings us to 10.

But still… there’s more.

Sis has some friends in town and Brotha-Man’s bud, Seal, is also in town. Sounds like there will be a trip over to Seacrets this afternoon.  I’m sure we’ll see even more of their friends over there.

Monday I’ll be back at work… Uggggh.  Only for three days though.  Two of the Chicago girls are flying in late Wednesday and we are trekking back down here on Thursday.  There will be 10 of us in total.  I can’t wait!  What I can wait for is my birthday.  I will just pretend it’s not happening.

I’m sure there will be some stories or pictures to come out of today’s events.  I will be sure to keep you post as usual.

Happy Jamaican New Year!

This was the view from our balcony at the beach tonight:

The picture doesn’t do it justice by any means but that is Minnie Red’s head on the bottom there. This had to be the best fireworks we have ever seen from Seacrets.  If you click on the photo and look real close you might notice the *Waxing Crescent Moon in the background. Tonight I realized that every time I’ve seen fireworks they have been red, white & blue. These were purple, gold, orange and anything else you could think of.

After my last post I changed my mind and decided not to drive to Dewey.  Instead I had a hankering for a Mojo Rumba at Macky’s.  For some reason I wanted to pronounce it Moho but I finally got it right.  This was a first for me and what I mean is I went and sat at a bar by myself.

I met a great local couple that told me about the record breaking Blue Marlin that was brought in yesterday weighing 935.5 lbs.  WOW!  They also let me know that Fager’s and Galaxy 66 have the best food that can be found in Ocean City.

BUT what they were really emphatic about is the crab cakes at the Crab Cake Factory and at Cowboyz Smokehouse.  They tell me there really is no filler and it’s all crab meat and this is why they can’t fry them.  The Crab Cake Factory ships almost anywhere so be sure to check out their link.  If you do place an order be sure to let them know you heard about them from Kathy.

After four… Yes four of the Mojo Rumba’s I was done.  I stumbled down the street to Dumsers and ordered myself a cheesesteak.  Evidently, the cheesesteak was on special and came with fries.  WOOHOO! I have been so good lately and this was gonna ruin it all but I didn’t care.  Once the order was ready I stumbled back to the condo to chow down.  Luckily, I couldn’t eat it all and only got half way through.  About that time The Folks and Minnie Red arrived home with Grotto pizza, which I didn’t touch.  I layed down on the couch and promply passed out but not before I put my foot on the floor to keep the room from spinning.

Soon after the sun went down I woke up and not feeling very well.  I took some excedrin for the headache and I’m guzzling the water and with any luck maybe I’ll run in the morning.  I’m just thankful I didn’t eat the whole thing.  I prefer not to eliminate something I want to eat but to just have smaller… way smaller portions.  Last year I would have eaten the entire thing.  Seems this is all working… I bumped into a friend I haven’t seen for a few months and he noted I was looking better… slimmer.  Woohoo!

Seems I woke in plenty of time to catch Project Runway but more importantly the fireworks.

Another wonderful day of vacation and this one was particularly quiet plus I met a personal challenge to hang at a bar alone and meet some new people.

*The Waxing Crescent Moon is a term I got from Minnie Red. Last year they did an entire unit on the moon and the sun. I’m so proud of her… She is soooo smart.

Vacation Wednesday

Dad, Sis and I walked the boards this morning.  The boards were packed and it was the hottest I think I have ever experienced it out there.  I was soaked by the time we got back.

During our walk we heard this huge BOOM!  Dad said it sounded like a plane breaking the sound barrier.  I thought that was odd but he said they would hear that often when he was a young’un.  When we got back Mom was worried something happened under the building but ends up she heard the same thing.  It will probably be a few weeks before we ever figure out what that could have been.

The Fam has decided to invade my cousin and his family in Dewey but I stayed back with plans to meet up with them later.  I took a nap and then headed up to the beach, which was packed and extremely hot.  It didn’t take long before my knee caps were sweating and I was ready to climb into the ocean.

The ocean was very calm and beautiful and the sky is clear.  I walked right in but only got about half way.  A small wave hit right at stomach level and OOOOOHHHHHHHHH Crrraaaapppppp!  That is COLD!  I was cooled off and didn’t need to go any further.  I wasn’t expecting it to be that cold so when it hit the stomach I thought I might toss my cookies.  So I turned and walked out and another little wave hit me and I couldn’t get back to my chair fast enough.

Next time I won’t go in so fast.

Today Seacrets is offering no cover and $2.25 drafts all day with fireworks tonight.  I’ll be heading out soon to meet up with the family in Dewey.  The Island Boys will be playing at The Rudder at 4 and The Island Boys are a favorite of Dad’s.

I know I’m in vacation mode because I haven’t made my bed, and neither has Minnie Red, and I’m not going crazy over it.  Back home I can’t go on with my day unless my bed is made, I’m neurotic about it.

Well… I gotta go, The Island Boys are waiting for me.  See ya!
